Family and Privately-Held Businesses
One of the focus areas of Abeln, Magy, Underberg & Associates is working with family-owned and closely-held businesses. Over the years, we have had the pleasure of working with newer family enterprises, as well as those with long and proud histories. Clients have welcomed us into their executive circle and we have enjoyed learning about all aspects of the business and providing respective advice and support during the changing and development of their leadership teams.
Family Firm Institute
I am currently working towards the Family Firm Institute (FFI) Certificate in Family Business Advising (CFBA). I look forward to gaining a deeper understanding of the needs of family-owned enterprises, contributing to discussions with program peers, and to being able to offer further value to current and future family and closely-held business clients.
Systems Thinking
One of the topics covered right at the beginning of the certificate program was the concept of Systems Thinking – the importance of recognizing the entire family, the business ownership structure and the business itself – and how these systems/parts interact. While I think we all knew the importance of these systems prior to this course, this course and entire program gives us a new way of looking at the interactions.
I will be sharing more through this Blog and through LinkedIn as I progress through the curriculum. The investment in time – so critical for us to better serve you, our customer.
